2010 Reunion and Newsletter
3 March, 2010
Greetings,
I
hope this finds you and your families well. Another year has passed and
it is time to start thinking about our 2010 Reunion and the state of
our organization. In October
of last year in Scottsdale, 28 members plus spouses (almost 60 members
and guests attended the final dinner) enjoyed three days in Arizona and
the company of old
friends. As we have been discussing for the last few years, as we grow
older the make-up of the organization and the format of the Reunion is
changing. We are a bare
bones organization with the only officers being the current year
Reunion Chairman as the President and one other person serving as
Secretary - Treasurer. The only
Newsletter is published in the Spring and covers the upcoming Reunion
and other news although the 90th website is used for other information
and news as submitted.
As for the Reunions, we are trying to keep the costs down and allow
more time to do fewer things, if that makes sense.
In
Scottsdale at the Member’s Meeting the members agreed to the proposals
concerning the organizational structure and Reunion formats and also
agreed to underwrite some
Reunion expenses to help keep Reunion costs down. All of this is
covered in the attached Meeting Minutes.
For
the Record, the current 90th Association financial status is $1,200.00
in Checking and a $3,000.00 CD which matures in September of 2010.

Annual Meeting Minutes
10/9/2009 Scottsdale, AZ
The
meeting was called to order by Acting President Gary Long. An overview
of the organization’s existing status was given. The 2009 Reunion was
to have been in Chicago
but due to the untimely death of Wally Zust (Reunion Chairman) that had
to be canceled and Long and Jim Bannerman put together the Reunion in Scottsdale. As
we have practiced the past few years the organization has evolved into
a one meeting/Reunion a year with an informal make-up. It was noted
that the Minutes of the
last meeting had been included in the newsletter and posted on the
website so they were not read. The Officers now are President / Reunion
Chairman and Secretary/Treasurer
with informal help from others as required. Essentially the one thing
we do is have an annual reunion and we structure the organization to accomplish that. The
assembled members essentially agreed with that approach.
A
summary of the financial status was given. We have approximately $11K
in the checking account and the membership present agreed to spend
approximately $5K to underwrite
some of the costs of this Reunion and do something along the same lines
next year. Several members suggested requesting annual dues and various
ways to collect
them. It was agreed to ask for dues/donations during the year. We also
discussed the length of the reunion and the importance of considering
how far and how
much walking may be required on tours. It was also suggested that we
look into a picture book similar to one we had at the last New Orleans
reunion.
2010
Reunion: Emmett Smith Chairman...Bossier City, LA / Barksdale AFB. No
dates set as of now but there is a mid-October target. Emmett is
proposing a 4 day event
with day one being registration and socialization, day two a tour of
Barksdale AFB, day three a local historical site tour, and day four
open. Details will follow in the Spring Newsletter.
2011
Reunion: Jimie Knight Chairman...Panama City, FL...Tyndall AFB. Jimie
reviewed his plans that included a tour of Tyndall and a dinner cruise.
More later.
Respectfully
submitted,
GR Long,
Secretary/Treasuer
